Areas with high traffic will be the first to dull. When you begin to see the dulling, it is time to recoat the floor.

When we say that we are going to recoat a hardwood floor, what do we mean? The existing top coat is abraded to prepare the surface to adhere with the new finish coat. If the floor has been waxed or cleaned with a product that contained wax, the new coat will not adhere and the floor will have to be resanded. The length of time the coating takes to dry depends on the type of wood finish used. Water based products will dry faster than those with an oil base.
